2009 EXTINCT and ENDANGERED SPECIES PROJECT
Select an extinct animal whose common name or scientific name that starts with the same letter as your first name. Select an endangered animal that begins with the same letter as your last name. You may flip-flop so the extinct animal begins with the same letter as your last name. Use the Internet or books to find information about your animals. Be certain you have found consistent verified information on each animal prior to beginning your written work. You will use this information to create one Prezi(extra credit)/Glogster(extra credit)/PowerPoint/Google Docs presentation representing both species (animals). Several slides per animal will be necessary for the presentation. Students must have three citations per animal (six total) by Thursday Dec. 10th.
Your Presentation should include:
The common name and the scientific name (Genus and species) of your animals
Drawing/Images of each animal for presentation (select large or extra-large image file sizes)
One to two paragraphs per animal on 5x8 size note cards (these 5x8 cards will be turned in at the time of the presentation) – These typed paragraphs should incorporate the following information for each animal:
Description of the animal including size, coloration/s, characteristics
Information about where it lived or lives (region/country & mountainous, wooded areas, desert, near water, etc.)
Reasons for extinction or endangerment
Steps being taken to save the endangered animal
Interesting facts about each animal
Works Cited-All sources of information (pictures too) correctly listed in MLA format on the last slide of the presentation
Your presentation should last one minute and thirty seconds (45 seconds per animal)
This sheet must be submitted with your oral presentation
